As part of Columbus City Utilities’ ongoing infrastructure improvement activities, the bowl of a new 2-million-gallon elevated water storage tank on Deaver Road was lifted into its final resting spot atop the 166 feet tall concrete and steel base, making the final height over 200 feet. The tank base and bowl were built by Caldwell Tanks LLC. The bowl was lifted on November 9 by 48 hydraulic jacks and took about 5 hours to reach the top of the base. Water to the new storage tank will be supplied by (4) 1,500 gallon per minute booster pumps housed in the base. The tank construction is scheduled to be completed in late April and will go into service in time for peak summer demands. The completion of this tank will increase the total system storage by over 50 percent.
