Columbus City Utilities held a groundbreaking ceremony on June 7 for a new water storage tank that is being constructed at the former Walesboro airport property near the corner of Deaver Road and South CR 175W.  The new tank will be able to hold 2 million gallons of water and will take about about 18 months to two years to complete. Utilities Engineer, Ashley Getz gave a brief overview of the project. Utilities Executive Director, Roger Kelso; Mayor Jim Lienhoop; and Mary Ferdon, Executive Director of Administration/Community Development also spoke about the project. Ashley, Roger, Mayor Lienhoop, Mary, Utility Service Board Vice Chairman, Utilities attorney and Utilities City Council Liaison along with others from Bowen Engineering and Strand Engineers took part in “turning the dirt.”
